Visting Mercer County in New Jersey
Mercer is one of the counties situated in the state of New Jersey. Mercer County is noted for the brief history that surrounds it. It was named after a General who was killed during the Princeton war. The population of the county has exponentially grown over the decades and is now home to around 400,000 people. It is also popular for its educational establishments, including the most noteworthy Princeton University among other relatively minor institutions like the Mercer County Community College.
Mercer County was founded in as recent as the 19th century, and is much involved geographically in terms of wars that plagued the area in the 18th and 19th century, even before the County was formed. It is also famous for supposed paranormal activity cited in the location just a few decades ago.
Apart from the intense history that surrounds the County, it provides plenty of places relaxation and entertainments for people located in the area including dozens of parks like the Montgomery Park, Harrison Street Park and Rosedale Park. Several museums also exist in Mercer County which showcases several rare artifacts and objects back from the ruins of war to other fascinating pieces of history. These museums include the Old Barracks museum which is named after what it was restored after, barracks from the war during the 18th century. This museum, as you might anticipate holds several valuable findings from the war that plagued the city for several years. Other intriguing museums include the Hopewell museum, the Trenton City Museum and the Princeton University museum (located inside Princeton University) among a few others.
While parks are a dime a dozen in Mercer County (which you would notice if you spend a day visiting the various places in the County) there are plenty of other interesting sites and venues to attend. Mercer County provides facilities for several outdoor activities like bicycling at the Trenton Cycling Revolution, ice skating at the Ice Skating Center, tennis at the Mercer County Public Outdoor Tennis Center and of course swimming. If you are looking to kick back and relax for the evening there are also a few theatres to visit like the Kelsey theatre.
While Mercer County occupies only a small geographic region of the state of New Jersey it is one of the most noteworthy Counties, home to the well known Princeton University and comprising of several venues catering to virtually every type of audience.
