History of Princeton, New Jersey
Princeton is one of the places you should be considering to visit if you are looking to get your mind off the daily, monotonous wear and tear of life. The history dates back to the 17th century where Princeton got its name from, which was after Prince William. The Princeton University which is a university of note worldwide and has also contributed to the reputation of the city was also established in the 17th century then known as the college of New Jersey. Princeton was temporarily the capital of the country back in the 17th century as well when the declaration of independence was signed by two citizens of Princeton.
As it is pretty much midway between New York and Philadelphia, the city was the stop at midnight for the train system until somewhere in the mid 19th century. The erection of the railroad contributed to making the city a lot busier and resulting in a lot of developments within the city.
Apart from the war history Princeton is also responsible for two presidents of the United States, Woodrow Wilson and Grover Cleveland among other reputed writers, scholars and scientists. During the mid 20th century, the first domestic institute for scholars in the US was setup with Albert Einstein being one of the leading professors.
Another place of note in the history of Princeton would be the world acclaimed Princeton University. Established in the 18th century, the university has undergone plenty of renovation, back when it was first founded, it was known as the College of New Jersey, it now houses over 7000 students and has steadily grown in quantity and quality over the centuries.
