Forrestal Village in Princeton, New Jersey
Forrestal Village is a massive establishment in the city of Princeton in New Jersey. Comprising of a series of offices, retail stores, restaurants and other services, the complex is one of the state’s busiest places. Its name is derived from being in close proximity to the Forrestal Campus in the University of Princeton. Lately though, it has comparatively lost its buzz and is on the decline, it is understood that rebranding and renovations procedures are in progress to uplift the complex again.
Erection of the establishment began several years ago in 1986. Initially it was designed to comprise of dozens of night clubs, a 300 room hotel and restaurants along with shops, shoe repair and even a mail centre to lure customers, the plan however lacked execution due to similar competitors surrounding the area. Due to the lack of success and the loss in business parts of the establishments were rented out by other outlets and it was eventually re-designed as a mall which was a more successful business model. Over time this model also proved a failure and renovation was in place, it was bought over by another firm and it was then re-introduced as an office complex which still stands today.
The complex currently comprises of over 80 tenants, popular brands include Foxcom, Westin Hotel, AIG Investments and Allstate. Apart from offices it also houses a few (in comparison to the past) restauarants, a salon and other service centers. While a lot of renovation and restructuring has taken place, the complex is still, for some reason failing to boom possibly because of the location factor, poor marketing or the rife competition surrounding the area. Another reason for the lack of activity within the mall at present is the fact that it is apparent that the state of New Jersey does not require such an establishment as there is no shortage of restaurants and retail stores within the statte. Nevertheless it consists of quite a few attractive locations within the premises that like the Salt Creek Grille, the fitness centre and the Spring setting is nothing short of breath-taking.
While the future of the complex appears to be bleak and the idea of Forrestal Village as a mall has pretty much vaporized based on their past endeavors, the owners are still hopeful looking to cater to the needs of the people and companies in the surrounding area, office space.
